Where Does Your Gift Go?
Annual Gifts
Gifts made each year support ongoing needs such as:
- General Educational Costs
-
Scholarships
- Academic
- Occupational
- Institutional
- Athletic
-
Special Programs
- "I Can Swim!" Program for school children.
- SING emergency assistance fund for students in crisis
Annual gifts may be as small as $5 or as large as you wish. You may make a one-time gift or make a pledge and pay in installments. Those making annual gifts of $1,000 or more become members of the President’s Circle.
Capital Gifts
Capital gifts support large, one-time projects like the new library or technology enhancements. The College has recently completed a 10-year facilities master plan that begins with the transformation of the present Continuing Education building into a new center for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Funding will come in part from the state of Maryland, but local matching gifts will also be needed, especially for classroom equipment. Donors of exceptional capital gifts are often recognized by the naming of a building or a space in their honor.
Endowments
Endowment gifts establish a fund in perpetuity. The initial amount is invested to yield an annual return of at least 4%, which may then be spent for the purpose indicated by the donor (scholarships, special programs, etc.). Many endowment funds carry the name of the donor or another individual to be honored by the gift. More than one donor may contribute to an endowment fund over time.
